In addition to teaching in a rural district, I am the historian for a local cemetery and volunteer as an EMT for my small town's emergency squad. Since my start of teaching after graduating from Keuka College in 2010, I've taught almost everything. From Science, to Math, to English, and Social Studies - I've been able to co-teach with some wonderful educators.
For 2014-2015 I've been assigned seventh and eighth grade classes. My students are a great group of energetic kiddos that always have something to share! Fortunately, I get to teach my favorite subject - Social Studies. History is my absolute favorite subject. Many people (even other teachers) have said that it's a boring subject. However, as I tell my students, it's like dating your best friend's ex without knowing they'd dated. It'd be good to know their past relationship!
For 2015 - 2016, it looks like I'll be teaching 15:1 Social Studies again! I've also been reassigned to DCT Math! Here's to another year in the Middle School!
